Bouncing back from a break-up includes more aspects than one. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally. In a generation where title-less relationships seem to dominate, even the effort invested in those predicaments can cause an emotional backlash when things head south. Heartbreak, in whatever form, is never easy. While the reaction and backlash differ from person to person, it’s how you bounce back that defines your resilience in a time of defeat. I truly believe that when an individual rebounds after an emotional rollercoaster, that showcases their best act of perseverance!
Media tycoon Khloe Kardashian has talked endlessly about the “revenge body.” Looking so (seemingly) effortlessly amazing at the expense of your ex. When applying this idea to my life and my past relationships, I internalized this concept without being able to put a title on it. Without being able to label it my “revenge body.” When I was used to recoiling into my feelings after a split, I instead took control of my happiness and told myself that this would be that moment I’d bounce back better than ever. In that very moment, I told myself sweat would replace my tears. I had so many pent-up emotions, most of it being anger that I knew I needed to (physically) work off. Exert the negative and replenish with positive.
Energy invested in devastation later turned into redirected motivation. At the time, Kanye West’s Yeezus album was recently released. I joined Planet Fitness and used that album as a soundtrack to my recently discovered desire to be the best that I could be. As Khloe K puts it so simply: the best revenge is a good body. When a part of your being begins to make a positive transition, the rest of your body follows suit. When you begin eating clean and exercising on your own, you’ll be shocked to see what type of impact it has on your psyche. Essentially, you’ll be able to notice an adjustment in your temple overall.
Reading this concept may seem much more difficult than it actually is. It’s about developing a sense of control that channels that negative energy into something utterly positive. Something that your body will thank you for later! Understanding and coming to terms with what was and locking it away while you focus on the priority: YOU. It gives one an overall feeling of accomplishment and empowerment. Women are such strong individuals from the inside out. Of course, we all sometimes reach a breaking point during certain instances in our lives, but it’s how we rebound that demonstrates our pliancy to come back badder than ever, leaving that old news (that shouldn’t even be acknowledged) and showing them what they’re missing!
It’s awesome taking control of the things we DO have control over in our lives. Look good, feel good, live better. The idea of the revenge body is for anyone who’s been able to redirect the energy of hardship or heartache into promoting a positive self-image and practicing a positive life!
