Hustle 101: Turning A Passion Into A Paycheck

I don’t think it comes to anyone’s surprise when I say that today’s economy is jacked. The rise in unemployment and cut in work hours prove to be detrimental factors for all workers throughout the country. However, there’s a silver lining to this cloud.

I don’t think it comes to anyone’s surprise when I say that today’s economy is jacked. The rise in unemployment and cut in work hours prove to be detrimental factors for all workers throughout the country. However, there’s a silver lining to this cloud. In recent years, people are opting out of the cliché “nine to five” lifestyle and starting to pave their own way. In fact, last year alone saw a rise in business owners, with women being the majority; this gave birth to a new wave of entrepreneurs. Sad to say, we’re living in an economy where “going for broke” is a better choice than slaving for a highly-taxed paycheck. Here are my guidelines for turning an idea into your bread and butter.

Stick To Your Guns!!

The majority of the time, trying to be different is a common mistake that many people make. I get it; the competition of fellow entrepreneurs could reach limitless heights, and could be overwhelming for any individual starting from the bottom. However, individuality is what will serve as a major asset in the long run. Truthfully speaking, every one of you is born with a unique gift, and your parameters for success depend on how far you tap into that gift. Another trick is doing so without letting nothing or no one steal your thunder. Criticism and setbacks come with the territory of being an idealist, so don’t let these bumps discourage you. Hell, if Donald Trump, the biggest waste of sperm, could be a candidate for the presidential election, then anyone reading this has the potential to materialize their vision. Never quit!

Positive Vibes Only

In building an empire, it’s important to always leave a positive impression. People are automatically drawn to positive auras, and more people means more business. One of the best ways to obtain a positive attitude is by learning the ability to coach yourself towards a productive state of mind. When you’re thoughts are consumed with negativity and fear, it will show in your work. When the unlikely occurs, mental reprograming comes in handy. Focus on the goal at hand; your attitude becomes infused with your passion when this happens, making you the ultimate go-getter.

Building Bridges

Even though hard work pays off, sometimes, it’s all about who you know. Forming relationships with individuals whose careers align with your passion is a sure way. Networking will prove to be highly beneficial, especially when it comes to gaining investors. One of the golden rules to business is to never spend your own money unless you have to, and leaving a good impression on an investor will have them in the palm of your hand. Even using social media is a commonly used route. Social media may not be a solid marketing strategy, but it will definitely amplify it. Half of the time, people sit on their asses and use social media as a device to be a creep all day long; why not use it to fuel your passion? You may not think so, but having contacts through networking will help make your ideas a success.

So there you have it. In my opinion, there comes a time in life where you have to build your own empire. Don’t get it twisted; I have the utmost respect for anybody that grinds for 40 hours a week, definitely more respectable than waiting at the mailbox for an income tax check. However, if you have a talent or skill, there’s nothing wrong with broadening your horizons.
