5 Things You Need To Quit

I am going to get on my soapbox and say, “You need to quit!” I’ll be completely honest, I need to quit too! I figured if I am working on this, I might as well rally up the rest of social media to do it with me! Are you up for the challenge?

I am going to get on my soapbox and say, “You need to quit!”  I’ll be completely honest, I need to quit too!  I figured if I am working on this, I might as well rally up the rest of social media to do it with me!  Are you up for the challenge?

  1. Stop putting yourself down because of what OTHERS think.  Do me a favor—look in the nearest mirror!  That person, yes, I am talking about YOU!  That person is the one who has to love you!  So what if they don’t like your purple hair or your body type!  Who cares if you have made mistakes!  You are human.  We have ALL done some things we are not proud of, but as the line goes from my favorite poem, “You have passed your most dangerous, difficult test if the man (woman) in the glass is your friend.”  QUIT IT!  Don’t allow the opinions of others to determine how you treat yourself!
  2. Stop trying to do it all on your own.  This is an impossible feat.  There is nothing wrong with asking for help.  You are attempting to walk a tightrope over a shark tank—IT IS TIME TO QUIT!  You will burn yourself out while you have friends, family and people you haven’t even met yet who want to be your support!   There are people in the world who won’t judge you!
  3. Stop being afraid of change.  I know this one is tough.  We like our comfort bubble.  We enjoy the predictability of our own chaotic life.  But change is GOOD!  I repeat, change is GOOD.  I had a boss once who told me that change is definitely uncharted water, but there is a 66% chance that things will turn out great or stay the same and only a 33% chance that it won’t.   The odds are in your favor!  For you negative nellys thinking, “I’d end up in the 33% chance,” QUIT NOW!!!!  

With that being said…

  1. Stop being so negative!  Everything is not always BAD.  There are silver linings.  There are sunny sides of the street and all of the other corny lines telling you to look on the bright side!  I challenge you to find the one positive thing in your day of negatives.  I bet there is one thing that stood out today. QUIT LETTING THE DARK SIDE CONSUME YOU!
  2. Stop living in the past.  You and I both know you think about the “what ifs” in your life.  What if I stayed with so and so, what if I took that job, what if I made that flight.  You are exactly where you are meant to be at this moment.  Every choice, moment and experience has led you to this point, so what if you appreciated what you already had? QUIT IT because…

If you quit number 5, it would help you work on number 4, motivating you for number 3, to realize number 2, and take a moment to appreciate number 1…YOU!
