Summer is here and that means it is travel season! There are so many wonderful places to travel that you have yet to explore. Skip out on that traditional trip to your cousins in Delaware and go somewhere that will make your adventurous spirit fly freely! But where should you go? Sure, Jamaica and the Bahamas are always a great place to go for summer vacation, but there are other exciting places to go that aren’t as traditional as going to a tropical island or the Caribbean. Here are five exciting places to spend your summer:

New York City

The Concrete Jungle is a wonderful place to explore. There are so many things to see and so much to do in this giant city, but don’t do all of the tourist activities. Skip out on going to Times Square and going to the Statue of Liberty! Instead, go spend the day at Governor’s Island, Brooklyn Bridge Park, SoHo, the Bronx Zoo, Coney Island, Central Park and so many other places that are much more exciting then being a regular tourist. You’ll probably need a full week to actually enjoy yourself in New York City because there are so many opportunities to have fun in the Big Apple! Just ask any New Yorker what there is to do and make a list of all of the things you want to experience. There is sure to be a ton of events going on anywhere in New York City, so all you have to do is choose!

New Orleans

I recently visited Louisiana to see family and spent a day in New Orleans. Boy, do I wish I spent more time there! New Orleans is such a great experience for someone who loves a mix of the south and the city like me. You can hang on Bourbon Street at night at all of the local bars and just have fun walking the streets. Trust me when I say you will even have fun just walking down Bourbon because it is such a busy area. There is so much going on that you will never have a dull moment. You could even visit the French Quarter and hang out by the calm waters of the Mississippi River. There’s also great food everywhere you go, especially if you’re a seafood lover! You may have missed Mardi Gras, but the amount of fun you’ll have is just the same

Cabo San Lucas

This wonderful tropical paradise has just become my dream vacation. If you’re someone who loves bright blue waters, sandy beaches and sweltering heat then this is the place for you! There’s so much to do in this resort city of Mexico such as snorkeling, scuba diving, nightlife fun and going to outdoor restaurants. It’s very expensive so save up your money with a group of friends and family and be passport ready because you are about to have the time of your life!

Saint Martin

St. Martin is another beautiful tropical island located in the Caribbean. My father has visited this place numerous times and I can only imagine how beautiful it really is by looking at the pictures of his trip. There’s a lot of places to explore and so much to do. Just make sure you save up and have your passport ready because this trip will definitely be worth all that it costs.

California

I know it is so cliché but California is so large, you would have a hard time being bored here. From Disneyland to Orlando Studios, there are so many amazing places to explore. You can also go to San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and more! They all have their own unique experiences for you and your family and friends to enjoy. Just pick a place and explore the wonderful and large state of California!
